Dents and dings have been removed in our shop, the mouthpipe is new. The horn has never been seriously damaged.

Holton's current professional nickel silver double horns have a suggested retail price of $6614. The original lacquer finish is close to 100%, valves are tight with good compression. This one's a good example, never seriously damaged, minor dents and dings removed in our shop. HOLTON H-188 double horn, solid nickel-silver construction. Good modern case, the horn "9.5 on a scale of 10".
We've replaced the original valves with new ones (hand-lapped in our shop in Wichita), have burnished out the minor dings. Cosmetic condition is very good, but original valves have suffered from having been acid-dipped too many times.

Holton H-179, serial #619,894 double French horn, solid nickel-silver, made in USA. This one's come to us in perfect original condition. Very clean original "made in America" double horn, Phil Farkas model with large bell. Holton H-179, #660,631 Double French Horn, solid nickel-silver made in USA. Rare, superb player, "9.9 on a scale of 10". Case is modern, probably about 10 years old. Not sure of the age, but we're guessing mid to late 1960's. No thin spots, two tiny dings have been burnished from the bell spout, but otherwise the horn is in pristine original condition. Original rotors are absolutely perfect, appear to have never been dipped in acid. No serial number, gold-brass construction, seamed bell. Sold.Įxtra clean ALEXANDER double French horn, model 103G. The original lacquer finish is worn maybe 25%, with 75% original finish still in good condition. Good modern used case, rotors still showing good compression. The brass is heavy and the horn therefore produces a rather dark tone-color, most favored by strong players. Reynolds instruments showed high-quality workmanship, but should not be confused with instruments of the same time from Holton or Conn. Never any major dents, minor dings have been recently burnished out by our shop in Wichita. Our FE-03 was last sold by our shop in 2006, has actually been played very little since it was new. The firm passed to Paul Richards ("RMC" stamp on the bell), then to the Norlin Corporation (Reynolds, Olds, others.). Originally designed by Max Pottag (Chicago Symphony Orchestra) for Reynolds shop in Cleveland. Reynolds double horn model "Contempora FE-03", serial #79305, made in Texas in the mid-sixties.
